This is one of the Dutch "Boomkorkotters" No idea how to translate it in
English, but basically it's a fishing vessel, which uses a technique were
the nets are dragged over the bottom using a weighted boom. During the
eighties these ships developed into quite massive ships with a lot of
horsepower to drag increasing net sizes. However nowadays with the rising
prices for gasoil and (supposedly) depleting fish supplies in the Northsea,
most of these vessels have been replaced by smaller boats and/or other
fishing techniques.

As these vessels were really seaworthy they have been converted to guard
vessels for oil and gasrigs on the Northsea and have even been used acros
the globe for fishing.
