Interesting picture Mark.
I thought ships were supposed to be in the water, not sitting on top of it.
Thanks for posting.

I assume he wants to keep the bow thruster out of the water and ice.

I wish I had some photos of the single hull ships. They didn't ballast when
they pumped their cargo off because they used cargo tanks for ballast.

I used to seal the sea chest valves in the pump room prior to the discharge

After they completed the discharge I would go down in the pump room and
break the seals so they could ballast. I'd keep the seals for a period of
time in case water showed up in a shore tank.

The reason I sealed the sea chest was to prevent the crew from opening it
during the discharge. If they lost suction pumping gasoline off, they open
the sea chest up and put sea water in the tank and pump.

Anyway...the bow on the single hull ships would be over a meter out of the
water on completion of discharge.

Sorry Mark (and group),
Using new software and I didn't get it to ID me correctly.
I think it's fixed now and Truck Day is getting closer.
