I stopped into the Photo Market in Portland, Maine and tried it out. I really like this lens but it doesn't have image stabilization. I took 2 photos and I was in a hurry. One image was fine and one was blurry. I will use it with a tri-pod and I'll buy a monopod. I called the guy at Photo Market and he mentioned th monopod and I told him I'll be back tomorrow. I remember what Canal Lee said after I got my new camera. "Now you can spend some money on lenses". I also learned something today. I have had problems taking photos at night. They are slightly blurry and it was from the image stabilization. GO PATRIOTS Mark |

GO PATRIOTS Mark My Sigma 120-400 has OS and would be of little use to me without it because I do wildlife and bird photography mostly. Except for the occasional wader, birds don't still still long enough to set up either a monopod or a tripod. My Nikkor 80-200 has VR stabilization too. Excellent for sports and grabbing quick shots. Not all image stabilizers are built equal. Some MUST be turned off if you're using a tripod or monopod. Most OS lenses shot off hand do not produces images as sharp as a lens mounted on a heavy tripod using a remote release. Not even your tankers are going to sit still for that :-) When you shoot handheld, tuck your elbows against your sides and cradle the camera. If you have OS, use it. A monopod is a great investment. I have one and use it more than I use a tripod. Night shooting is not something I do because a crow in flight against a black sky... |

I'm going to get a monopod and my first lens didn't have image stabilization. I took some photos today without stabilization on. I haven't downloaded them yet. Stay warm Tony Mark |
