Buick 225 v-6 question..

Hi, I'm new here and I've got an old Buick v-6 in a Jeep. I have heard
these motors were put to marine use and I thought that maybe I'd be more
likely to find an authority here than with the Jeep bunch.

That being said, if there's anyone here who feels like helping me with
this I'll pound out a full description of what I've done so far in
troubleshooting the problem (I've done quite a lot) but I don't want to
make a giant post and waste everyone's time if there's nobody here who
wishes to take a shot at it. (That's a pretty long sentence, eh?)

Many thanks,

John

I gathered that.

Many motors were 'marineized' from a common block.

and I thought that maybe I'd be more
likely to find an authority here than with the Jeep bunch.

Not likely. After a series of '****ing contests' here, there's not much
activity in this NG.

Go ahead and post your story- I'll see if I can help.

Mike,

Hi, thanks for the response. After considerable monkeying with this
motor I've about decided that it's got a head gasket issue. I thought it
might be a sticking valve or stuck lifter (hydraulic) but I've changed
my mind and come around to the conclusion I've got a head gasket blown
between no. 6 and no. 4. Either way, the head is going to have to come
off and I can check the three possibilities at that time. If it's the
head gasket then I'll pull the other head too, just as good practice.

Too bad about the ****ing contests- a good newsgroup is a valuable asset.

Thanks again,

John
