Fox to air boat races

A hour-long, national television special, focusing on the Marathon
Offshore Grand Prix, is scheduled to premiere on Fox Sports Network at
3 p.m. EDT, Wednesday, Aug. 4. The production not only covers the May
14-16 first race of the 2004 American Power Boat Association Offshore
season, but also reflects on the event's various social activities and
focuses on Marathon and the Keys as an excellent vacation destination.
Rock and roll legend Rick Derringer, who performed a live concert at
the event, is featured on the show as well as local artist Jen.
A segment showcasing a joint effort between race officials and
representatives of Marathon's Turtle Hospital and the Dolphin Research
Center shows how these officials work together to protect the region's
marine life during powerboat races.
Additional airings of the show are slated following the premiere later
in the summer, according to race producer Lee Mills. Consult local
