I don't blame them, but I totally lost interest in baseball, not knowing who would be on the team next year. Total boycott. Just haven't watched a game since - nada. Back when it was still was the Tinkers-Evans-Chance developed team game, I would watch Cubs games - when they played the Reds. That Rose, Morgan, Bench, Foster, Geronimo et al group was my favorite team of all time. Charley Hustle style. Loved it. But the South Side Hitmen were fun to watch too. Even if the US was flat broke or at least with its economy down, it's still wealthier than the majority of the member nations of the UN. I just shook my head when the US was sending immediate aide for Asian Tsunami in vastly large sums and quantities and Kofi Annan did nothing but crab on the US for it's lack of support for tsunami victims With that said, anytime Kofi wasn't ragging on the U.S. about something/ anything he wasn't having a good day. Kofi thought he'd put in a final jab when he left the U.N by saying that the U.S was guilty of the worst human rights violations. Of course, he's spouting that off, while Chinese and various "third world" ambassadors, apointees, and envoys as sitting there smiling away. Nah, Don, The U.N. buildings are located (as you know) in New York, and I feel that's close enough . actually too close, like it should be at least 7 mi. off the U.S shore. maybe 12. or further. |

It's really hard to tell now-a-days with all the mergers, engineering agreements and partnerships, but the result is that many of the newer offerings by "US" manufacturers are actually very much improved and refined cars. Even some of the Chrysler models benefited from the brief association with Mercedes. I agree with your previous statements about BMW. The competition is getting better, but for a while the difference in performance, handling, and quality of a BMW overshadowed most of the other offerings in the same approximate price range. I had several and enjoyed every one of them. Some find it hard to understand, maybe because they don't share the same level of interest, but I buy cars because I like them and not because they conform to what somebody else says I should drive or how much I should spend. It's also the reason I am not a Democrat. :-) Eisboch |
