Wonderful special effects. But judging from how high up the status of
liberty it goes, it's depicting a storm surge of about 200', not
10-12'.


The History Channel did a show on this particular situation. They
point out that a big part of New York is actually below sea level too.
The subways and buried infrastructure along with the basements of all
the buildings. If the subway stations down near the battery go under
the whole system could flood. They also have the problem that a lot of
the emergency generators are in basements of buildings.
The level of disaster really depends on how long it goes on and if
they can keep power to the pumps.
If they ever lose lower Manhattan it will make the WTC collapse look
like a minor inconvenience

Flooding basements and subways is a little different than having your
ground level being 9 feet below sea level like it is in New Orleans.
At least you'll have a dry place to stand.
