A Wikipedia editor has pointed out similarities between Sen. John
McCain's speech yesterday on the crisis in Georgia and the Wikipedia
article on the country Georgia. Given the closeness of the words and
sentence structure, most would consider parts of McCain's speech to be
derived directly from Wikipedia.

First instance:

one of the first countries in the world to adopt Christianity as an
official religion (Wikipedia)

vs.

one of the world's first nations to adopt Christianity as an
official religion (McCain)

Second instance:

After the Russian Revolution of 1917, Georgia had a brief period of
independence as a Democratic Republic (1918-1921), which was terminated
by the Red Army invasion of Georgia. Georgia became part of the Soviet
Union in 1922 and regained its independence in 1991. Early post-Soviet
years was marked by a civil unrest and economic crisis. (Wikipedia)

vs.

After a brief period of independence following the Russian
revolution, the Red Army forced Georgia to join the Soviet Union in
1922. As the Soviet Union crumbled at the end of the Cold War, Georgia
regained its independence in 1991, but its early years were marked by
instability, corruption, and economic crises. (McCain)

Third instance:

In 2003, Shevardnadze (who won reelection in 2000) was deposed by
the Rose Revolution, after Georgian opposition and international
monitors asserted that the 2 November parliamentary elections were
marred by fraud. The revolution was led by Mikheil Saakashvili, Zurab
Zhvania and Nino Burjanadze, former members and leaders of Shavarnadze's
ruling party. Mikheil Saakashvili was elected as President of Georgia in
2004. Following the Rose Revolution, a series of reforms was launched to
strengthen the country's military and economic capabilities. (Wikipedia)

vs.

Following fraudulent parliamentary elections in 2003, a peaceful,
democratic revolution took place, led by the U.S.-educated lawyer
Mikheil Saakashvili. The Rose Revolution changed things dramatically
and, following his election, President Saakashvili embarked on a series
of wide-ranging and successful reforms. (McCain)

You are going to have to try a bit harder.

By "Uncle Joe," are you referring to Joe McCarthy, the unAmerican piece
of crap senator from Wisconsin? My opinion of McCarthy has never
changed...drunken lunatic then, lunatic now.

Sorry, I wasn't old enough to vote in the 1960 elections, and in those
days I was still a bit under my mother's influence, and she was a minor
muckety-muck in the local GOP.

Never been a Socialist, never been to any Socialist meetings, but I have
not the slightest problem with modern European socialism. The only
Socialists I ever heard of while growing up were Jasper McLeavy, the
mayor of Bridgeport; Norman Thomas, and Eugene Debs, and Debs died
decades before my time.

I think Pete Seeger is a great American, and I enjoyed his work with the
Weavers, but...I never thought his voice was good enough to be a solo
performer, so I don't have any of his records or CDs. On the other hand,
I do have some CDs of Paul Robeson.

Now, don't you feel like what's left on Loogy's butt after he wipes it
with dry leaves?

Seeger is still alive. No one died in Seeger's name. Compare that to the
tens of thousands who have died in the name of George W. Bush.

Seeger defended communism (and still does) and roughly 100 million
people died for Seeger's cause. If Seeger was truly a good person he
would give some of the proceeds of his songs to his victims.

I'm guessing you are a Republican and defend Repubican causes. Your
Republican president unleashed a war on another country under false
pretenses. Tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands have died
needlessly. If Bush were a good person, he would give some of his
family's oil wealth to his victims.

How's that?

No, not a repub at all. I consider myself to be a true progressive
instead of those who call themselves progressives but believe in a
many times discredited political ideology. I believe the Repubs
governed like Dems and paid for it in the last election. Repubs seem
to be common people who are as often wrong as right but at least they
are often intelligent. OTOH, Dems strike me as either senile old
idealogues or people who are literally to stupid to punch holes in
paper. I truly do not like Mccain but Obama is simply stupid. McCain
was right, Obama is simply the Paris Hilton of politicians, really too
stupid to know how unqualified he is to say anything on any topic.
Even worse, Dems think he is a genius, what does that say about them?

I offer an example of stupidity: When Bush made a crack about
appeasement it was an obvious attempt to draw a response from the
Dems. This was obvious to anybody with more than two neurons. When I
read his remark I immediately thought, "That was a pretty lame attempt
at trapping them". Amazingly, the Dems, and Obama in particular fell
for it. I am somewhat of a cynic about the intellectual ability of
most Dems and I was surprised at such amazing stupidity. It is pretty
clear that Paris Hilton really is more intellectually gifted than
Obama. When I see Mccain and Obama, I see Odie and Garfield.
Unfortunately, MCain seems too senile to take advantage of Obama's
idiocy.
