Believe it or not, it's related to the Spanish dollar or real. Back
during the Spanish exploration of Mexico during the silver mining
phase, silver was minted into coins - eight coins (or pieces of eight)
to the Spanish dollar or real. Bit substituted for piece - just 8
bits to the dollar.

This carried over to the American colonial days when Spanish dollars
were considered more valuable and Colonial dollars. How it came to
the lexicon of America was pretty simple - American/Spanish dollars
were divided into "quarters" or two bits.

Thus the rhyme - two bits, fours bits, eight bits, a dollar.

Two bits equals .25¢.

Two bits, four bits, SIX bits, a dollar...

All for the Gremlins,

Stand up and holler!

Yay!! Yippee!!

We will all try to put your mind at ease:

With the fans, the car is a DC motor and the window is AC.
Starting
torque is different.
As for the bits ..... isn't 2 "bits" a quarter?
But you can take a window fan and set it on "low" , plug it in,
and it
starts up jjust fine, though...
True, but it's not particularly good for the motor. Ideally, it
should
start up on "high" to give max torque using all the windings of
the
motor.
Then, it can be turned down. Not a big deal though ... most fans
can
handle it. I forget the mechanical stuff, but it takes something
like
3
times the amount of power to get something in motion than it does
to
maintain that motion.

Harry has taken some beautiful photos of drain plugs. You really should go

Just drain plugs. Naturally, several of The Seven Little Schitts added

Other than that, the only post of interest over there in weeks had to do
with some nicely turned out model boats.

I think Chuck simply lost interest in his creation.

Too bad... the original idea was great.. a real boating site without the
crap that goes on here.
The real problem is that the Dwarfs & their associates far outnumber real
boaters.
What can be done about it........?? Sometimes you have to exercise
termination with extreme prejudice.

less time boating and more time in rec.boats than anyone else in here.

Harry has taken some beautiful photos of drain plugs. You really
should go
look at them. The comments about his granddaughter's photo (or
whoever,
whatever, whenever, if he took it, quibbling ****...) must have
made an
impact. He's given thought to the proper use of lighting and
backgrounds.
He's even using depth of field in imaginative ways.
Last time I looked over at Chuck's, there wasn't much going on. WAFA
and DR. Hurtdick were keeping very quiet. I don't think Donny has
even figured out how to log on to the site. I think Chuck has
finally figured out how to keep the stooges from mucking up the
place. Glad you had a good time on vacation. take care John.

Just drain plugs. Naturally, several of The Seven Little Schitts added
their usual sorts of comments, and the Substitute Moderator locked the
thread. The Little Schitts can't behave, no matter what.

Other than that, the only post of interest over there in weeks had to
do with some nicely turned out model boats.

I think Chuck simply lost interest in his creation.

Leonard locked the thread? Good for him. Your trolls are getting nipped
in the bud now. You'll soon tire of dropping the bait over at Chuck's

I do think it is funny that Harry keeps posting photos talking about
"away we go, right down the ..... " and then posting different photos of
drain plugs and drains, in a not so subtle statement that Chuck's board
is going down the drain. People made light humor of the photo, and did
not take the bait to get into an argument, and Harry thought it was
everyone else fault that the thread was locked.

I really think Harry would make a great case study for a Dr. Dr.'s
thesis.

Too bad... the original idea was great.. a real boating site without the
crap that goes on here.
The real problem is that the Dwarfs & their associates far outnumber real
boaters.
What can be done about it........?? Sometimes you have to exercise
termination with extreme prejudice.

Have you always lived in a dream world? You, Rev.Jim and Harry spend less
time boating and more time in rec.boats than anyone else in here. You
purchased a boat from Tom, and it took you over a year to actually use it.

Now that doesn't quite compute... since I met Tom to complete the deal in
backwoods Maine *after* the Labour Day weekend in September 2007.
I took the boat out twice within that month.

That's not fair - he bought it late in the season - October I think
and it took damn near a month to register it and get the trailer set
up to Canadian standard.

I believe he took it out a couple of times in freezing weather before
he put it away.

Did you ever wonder why the heater fan in your car operates

I was just thinking about that.
hmm....
Oh yeah, I never figured out how 8 "bits" could equal $1.00
either...
We will all try to put your mind at ease:
With the fans, the car is a DC motor and the window is AC.
Starting
torque is different.
As for the bits ..... isn't 2 "bits" a quarter?
But you can take a window fan and set it on "low" , plug it
in, and it
starts up jjust fine, though...
True, but it's not particularly good for the motor. Ideally,
it should
start up on "high" to give max torque using all the windings
of the
motor.
Then, it can be turned down. Not a big deal though ... most
fans can
handle it. I forget the mechanical stuff, but it takes
something like
3
times the amount of power to get something in motion than it
does to
maintain that motion.

I already responded to the only interesting new post over there, the
one on the model boats. I don't respond to ReggieCrap here...or there.

The only post from WAFA at Chucks Is a picture of mostly plastic used
drain plugs. I don't know. Maybe you think it's art. Maybe we can work
it over for you and do something imaginative with it. Has the cat got
your tongue. you usually have some smart ass comment to go along with
your artwork. You are slipping old man.

He's on thin ice. He doesn't realize what an asshole he can be.

Harry has taken some beautiful photos of drain plugs. You really
should go
look at them. The comments about his granddaughter's photo (or whoever,
whatever, whenever, if he took it, quibbling ****...) must have made an
impact. He's given thought to the proper use of lighting and backgrounds.
He's even using depth of field in imaginative ways.

Last time I looked over at Chuck's, there wasn't much going on. WAFA and
DR. Hurtdick were keeping very quiet. I don't think Donny has even
figured out how to log on to the site. I think Chuck has finally figured
out how to keep the stooges from mucking up the place. Glad you had a
good time on vacation. take care John.

Donnie is "bluenose" not to be confused with...

Log on to this...... mucking boy!

I posted a copy of photos of drain plugs over there, without comment.

You'll soon tire of dropping the bait over at Chuck's
and coming up empty. D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S

Maybe people are - boating? WAFA spends more time bitching than he does
*looking* at a boat.

It's just Reggie playing one of his games. The only appropriate
responses to reggie: **** you *or* eat **** and die.

It's that easy.

Yeah...I know. He's always fishing for info to store away and bring
out months or years later.

Don,
When Harry gives you marching orders, he doesn't want a "yeah but", he
wants you to say "yes sir".

Jump to before he slaps you upside the head.

That would be funny if it wasn't so true. It's really sad.

tail every time they take notice of and encourage him.

They're garbage, Don. It's that simple.

Don,
The correct response is .... "Yes Sir!"

How would WAFA know what I post? He has me in his killfile. Someone
should remind him. Too many lies...

Probably took a month to check it for IED's.
