That's because they are burning *his* fuel, and throwing wakes over
*his* low transom.

He should have kept that Hatteras sportfish we used to hear so much
about. They are very seaworthy.

A 36 ft semi-displacement boat with a typical engine of 300 to 400 hp
burns about 12 to 18 gph at cruising speed, not exactly chicken feed
at today's diesel prices.
