Merc carb bleeding down - replace?

I'm going to look at a Mercrusier 3.0 (4 cyl) tomorrow that has a carb that is
losing the float bowl fuel when the engine is shut down. This usually meant
replacing the carb with cars I've worked on in the past but a rebuilt is $400
and may not be easy to get.

Has anyone had any luck repairing this problem - trying to reseal casting plugs
etc.?

Thanks for any help
Larry

Leaking down the intake? Or the outside? Or back down the fuel line?

If it's leaking back down the fuel line then try disassembling and
cleaning the fuel pump.

diaphram.
