NMEA Convert RMC to ZDA?

My GPS puts out RMC -- but I have a device that needs ZDA to get the time/date
-- RMC contains time/date -- is there any way (ie: any device) that can convert
between the two?

Doesn't Raymarine or someone like that make seatalk device that converts
a number of formats from one to another?

The Motorola Encore outputs: GGA, GLL, GSV, RMC, VTG, ZDA and a proprietary
sentence PMOTG.

There shouldn't be any problem as long as it's wired correctly. RMC
is the recommended minimum data stream for NEMA data and ZDA is just
time and date. The expectation is that the units will ignore most of
the RMC data stream and only pick off what it is capable of handling -
which in this case would be time and date only (ZDA).

I think that's how it works. Unless you have some sort of proprietary
equipment that uses a hinky system.

Here's a link that may help you out.

Doesn't appear to be the case -- For example: Furuno device (navtex) accepts zda
but doesn't even look at RMC...

Just puled up a host-search engine thing....

Hmmmmm - Well, nothing for it then - I must consult the High Holy Book
of NEMA Data Sentences...

TO THE WAVE CAVE!!!

Ok, the ZDA sentence:

$GPZDA,hhmmss.ss,dd,mm,yyyy,xx,yy*CC

hhmmss = HrMinSec(UTC)
dd,mm,yyy = Day,Month,Year
xx = local zone hours -13..13
yy = local zone minutes 0..59
*CC = checksum

The RMC sentence:

No need to go further - I see what the problem is.

Hmmmm....

Are you by any chance taking the data and displaying it on a PDA or
analog device?

Let's stick with the navtex example for now.

Well, I'll be honest with you - the only thing I know about Furuno
Naxtex is their receiver - I've never worked with Furuno data streams.
I do know that on the Raymarine C system which I had on my Contenders,
ZDA can be selected for date/time input (I just looked it up in the
manual).

I will readily admit that I'm not the brightest guy in the world, but
I don't know what you are trying to do so I'd only be guessing - I'm
completely in the dark.

Sorry.

Works fine for me - I just cleared my history, cookies and retried it
- it's there.
