It's down but not as bad as it was. 15 feet isn't terrible in Lanier, it's deep. Hope we get up more before the end of summer. |

I'm thinking we're not too many weeks from the start of the drier summer weather so it better hurry up. Then again they are calling for a more active hurrican season and it only takes one of those to fill up a lot of lakes. |

She's pretty sick at the moment, plus last week was the daughters high school baccalaureate and friday was graduation. then memorial day etc. But besides being extremely tired she is listed with about an 83% recovery rate, and the tumorous lymp nodes in her neck are shrinking. That's why I've not been on here much, because I've been studying about the cancer etc. and taking care of her. But so far we're planning on an excellent recovery. Around here in NC the lakes are briming. Kerr is like 5 or 6 feet over pool and the Corp is letting water out of the rest to keep them from being too high. Here in central Iowa, the local flood control/recreation lake is twenty feet above normal. Lots of beaches and boat ramps are closed. Casady It was a zoo at Falls Lake in Raleigh NC on Saturday. Boats everywhere. That's good news! It makes my plan to move to the Wake Forest area more tenable. (Sure hope I used that word properly!) -- John *H* The start of summer around here is usually busy with a high percentage of newbees crowded around at the ramp. It's entertaining if you don't let it get to you. But the high boat traffic made the lake a bit choppy. After a month or so traffic will drop off a bit. I suspect that some number of people get into boating and decide it's not really their cup of tea.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - I tend to help them so they'll know what to do next time.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Back on track, I was just watching a news strory on how the boat reposessions are way up. Folks overloaded with cheap debt, have to choose between the boat and the house. There will be a lot of marina sitting this year I bet... Will be hard for a lot of people. I towed the boat to Sacramento yesterday, and used a little more than a 1/2 tank of diesel == about $50 @$4.99 gallon and since I was not going very far up the river and did not need a lot of extra weight I only put in 42 gallons of gas at $4.029 $174 at Safeway stores gas station. Could have saved 3 cents by going to Costco, but probably cost that much to tow the extra distance. If people are trying to keep the kids in clothes and food, they are not going to be able to afford too many trips to the lake. |
