Weekend plans!

I know what Loogy will be doing - taking care of his daughter, who is
having a very rough time of it, I'm sure. I'd bet things are much more
rough for mom, who has to perform duties that Loogy can't handle!

Today is a day for golf with Bert and another friend at the Quantico Marine
Corps Base 'Medal of Honor Course'. The temp is a little cool for boating,
but just right for hunting balls in the woods and creeks at Quantico.

On Monday we will put in just north of Reagan National Airport and cruise
up the Potomac up to the new (to me) riverside shops and restaurants in
Georgetown for brunch. Then we'll do some sightseeing back down the Potomac
and up the Anacostia River to see if the cleanup has actually done any
good. It's always interesting to see what boats are tied up at the
Washington Navy Yards.

It's been at least twenty years since we've done the DC sightseeing bit by
boat, so I'm looking forward to it.

And you...?

Yep! At least we all got some sleep last night. My daughter didn't
want to brave the stairs so she slept on the family room couch. I
didn't want to leave her down there alone so I slept on an air
mattress next to her in case she needed anything.

If the weather there is like it is here, it'll be great!

How far of a trailer haul is that for you?

You know what I'm doing! Actually, I'm trying to think of something
that my girl could at least semi enjoy. We had a day planned at the
Georgia Aquarium with friends. I'm urging my wife and son to still go,
he's been a very good kid through all of this and there's no reason
for him to not be able to do the things he loves.

Don't forget to file a float plan and bring your EPIRB.

It's only about a ten mile trailer for me to get to the other side of
National Airport. I have to go through Alexandria, but that's not a big
deal. There are no launch fees there, and it saves a lot of gas over
putting in at Ft Belvoir or Pohick Bay and then running upriver.

Can your daughter not go to the aquarium?

She's not quite up to it yet, still pretty medicated because of pain
from surgery, but she's better today than yesterday, so just maybe....
It's a lot of walking for her with new very big tight casts and her
right arm is still swollen.

I wouldn't take her anywhere busy where she might get jostled or bumped.
Besides, I bet she'd tire quickly. An operation takes a lot out of you.

Yes, that's most of the problem, I don't want her to get weak right
after we get there. She doesn't need that.

I don't know what happened to her, but it obviously doesn't sound
good. But ont he other flip, it sounds like she's in good hands and
looking forward to recovery.

Not meaning to rant but, eh.....
My weekend? Well when gas shot up to unafordable amounts, it ruined my
trip to Kansas which I had been wanting to do for the last 5 years,
and that was to celebrate the Memorial service for my Great uncle who
was gassed in the trenches in WW1. I'd always wanted to put a wreath
on his stone and attend services there, but thats out. PLUS my
daughter is graduating HS tomorrow night. she'll be the last one out
of the nest, then off to college this fall. PLUS wife had her second
dose of "keeeemo" this past monday that she made it though the
baccalaurate service yesterday (wed) but is really weak and graduation
is friday night. so....

But the good news is that my son is wife and bambino are coming up for
the daughters graduation. and that will make a lot of things worth
while.
