Anybody ever buy stuff from Overton's?

My brother gets their catalogue and I've looked though it and it
doesn't really seem like there's anything in there that I need. But
they do have a good selection of stuff, though. I looked at the prices
of their electrical things and saw items there that I thought were
rediculous, and saw things in there that my local marina[s] have for
compatable pricing. But not all things.

Anyone have experience with Overton's

OOPS! hit the enter key before I was done.

Anyone have experience with Overton's? And seeing I dont' really buy
catalogue items, I was wondering how they stack up with the likes of
Bass Pro? or internet shopping?

Thanks!

I have ordered from them and they are OK. Just watch the prices. Like
everyone else they have loss leaders and charge too much for other
things. Service was fine.

Yes, They're catalogue looked a lot like looking though a Jegg's or
Summit automotive catalogue. A lot of "chromie-go-faster" stuff. With
advertising using squeeky-clean models on the dock of the yacht club,
that wouldn't get wet, dirty, or sweaty if they had to.

Jegg's and Summit. I like their sales lines. "your LOW price!" or "The
part you want ant the price you want to pay..."

I've bought a few things over the years from Overtons, typically stuff
I cannot buy locally. Their prices are just average.

I suppose my favorite "outdoor stuff mail order supplier" is Cabelas,
but I also like to visit the nearby Bass Pro Shops stores.

Indeed, but it has lotsa stuff not geared towards hunting and fishing,
including some great clothing.

I used to schlep all the way to North Raleigh to buy from them.

These days,

If Ebay or Wal-Mart doesn't carry it, I don't need it.

I'd like to get a pair of their 18" high uninsulated boots to wear with a

Too much trouble/expense to bring across the border unless I make another

I'm not a fan of Wal-mart. I really do try to avoind the place, But
for instance. Overtons "large" bow light part #21543 in their
catalogue is $14.99 plus shipping. Walmart has exactly the same thing
for $9.99 + sales tax.

but i don't need one of those, either.

Yep. Like anything else, you have to watch prices.

My brother gets their catalogue and I've looked though it and it
doesn't really seem like there's anything in there that I need. But
they do have a good selection of stuff, though. I looked at the
prices
of their electrical things and saw items there that I thought were
rediculous, and saw things in there that my local marina[s] have
for
compatable pricing. But not all things.

Anyone have experience with Overton's

I used to schlep all the way to North Raleigh to buy from them.

These days,

If Ebay or Wal-Mart doesn't carry it, I don't need it.

I'm not a fan of Wal-mart. I really do try to avoind the place, But
for instance. Overtons "large" bow light part #21543 in their
catalogue is $14.99 plus shipping. Walmart has exactly the same thing
for $9.99 + sales tax.

I really don't understand that thinking. If you don't want to purchase
Chinese made goods from the store, that is one thing, but they also
sell
items manufactured in the US.

Sorting them out is the problem.

You offer a reason why people shop their.........better prices

chinese is chinese whether from Walmart or Overtons.- Hide quoted text -

But, if we don't buy Chinese goods, then they may just raise the
interest rate on those billions of dollars we are borrowing from them
to pay for this silly war we're in.

Plus all the other trillions Congress is wasting!

We control the interest rate, not the Chi-coms.- Hide quoted text -

Not true at all. No more than you control the interest rate your bank
will charge you on a loan.

You think the Chi-Coms set U.S. Treasury note rates?

In a way they do. The rate is set at the rate that the government needs to
to sell the notes.

I'd bet any amount of Quatloos (or Gold Pressed Latinum) that the
bubbles are about to burst and that once again, the US Dollar will be
the dominant International currency.

Seriously. Another couple of months.

Yes, in a round about way.

Do not really agree as to time frame, but I always wonder why the Euro is so
strong. Most of the Euro region is on the verge of bankruptcy. The fact
that in about 10 years, France will have only 2 workers for every retired
person on a full pension is an immense drag on the economy.

I hope your earlier prediction about cheaper oil comes about.
I paid $1.267 per liter today...(roughly equals $ 4.79 per US gallon) down
from the $1.28 last Thursday.
