Something to consider. when using GG. I forgot the "option" button
that says you can report the post. *click* first on the list is
"Report Spam". it's already marked. Comments, I put "constant spam!"

Whne at work the old machine doesn't take kindly to a reader, and I
use GG then. and have been marking all the watch/purse/ tennis shoe
hawkers.

Don't know if it will help knock them off GG but it's worth a try.

pizza.

LOL! that's about right. Slow as the 7 year itch.

Trying to load a page of Ebay is horrendous. sometimes it loads about
halfway then just hangs..

no fun.

Google has no incentive to decrease messages good or bad. Each message
you look at is another potential ad-click.

They will when it gets so bad that everyone filters all messages from
googlegroups, as I do now. I haven't seen a spam message from china
in weeks. And I don't mind not seeing real people who post from
google groups either because the S/N is so low.

If you want to get rid of all the china spam yourself, see:
http://improve-usenet.org/filters_ex2.html

I use NewsProxy,
http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/ftp...ms/nps-124.zip
on Windows XP and in the past used Leafnode,
http://leafnode.sourceforge.net/ on Linux.

Leafnode is a full fledged news server that downloads and stores
messages on your computer and lets you use your client offline.
NewsProxy is just a proxy server for your news client that lets you
filter on anything possible in the message, like Message-ID, which
most clients can not filter on. You have to filter on Message-ID to
be sure you get rid of all the google groups china spam.

Try NewsProxy. You'll be happy you did.

If you want to know who is spamming the groups, wait to see which
reader goes from free to "pay" in the next couple of months.
