Boat for Shortwave?
Tom- still shopping? Still considering cats?
A virtually new dealer demo of one of these is for sale at $95,000. Two big Honda 4 strokes on the back. (they might let you buy just the boat for less and you could put 2-strokes on instead). Looks like a heck of a buy, at least to me. But you'd have to tow it home from Seattle. http://www.worldcat.com/boats/cabin_...70HT/index.php |

My 25' Parker had about 90 square feet of cockpit space, plenty of room for several fishermen. |

Their 32 footer has as much cockpit space as my 23 footer..... suppose it really has a 74" cockpit depth? I saw those measurements, too. So...you mount a boarding ladder inside the cockpit so you can reach over the gunnels to grab your fish? I'll say one thing about those slabsiders...when your twin ETECs crap out, just angle the side of the boat into the wide and sail home. |

A virtually new dealer demo of one of these is for sale at $95,000. I'm not trying to be smart here, but why would someone spend 95,000 on one of those? Although I've never ridden in one, it looks to me these boats would not be able to corner at high speed. Only my opinion, but I'd rather have a Cuddy with out the walk around. Boat Show near here tommorrow, mayber I'll see one there. |

I've never been on a boat that will "corner" at all. :-) (just kidding) People who boat in conditions where there is a lot of short, steep, chop are appropriately enamored with catamarans. Head seas that would cause the average monohull to lift and slam over every crest and create a wet, uncomfortable ride can be negotiated far more easily with a cat. It's probaby the strongest selling point of the concept. I don't know about outboard configurations, but in inboard or outdrive boats where there is an engine in each hull the generally greater distance between the two props substantially improves the close quarter (slow speed) turning capabilities. |

It would appear that I'm going to have to compromise at some point because of engine selections - the boats I'm most interested in all seem to be powered the same and dealers are very reluctant to change engines out. Can't blame them - I understand that they are in a tight squeeze on inventories and left overs resulting in not taking on additional inventory. With respect to the cats, I still have my concerns about them, but at this point in the search, I would certainly not turn one down if it's a deal like this - and this is a good deal. Is the demo boat set up similar to the one in the photos? |

There's nothing in it for me, but I'm on good terms with the folks at that particular brokerage and it may earn you some special consideration. (Or not, but it wouldn't hurt). A boating post! I'd just like to see one of these " cats " at about 40 knots ( or any speed above 28 knots) , turn hard either way....that would be interesting. |
