What training. They are talking about training show dogs. I have
trained lots of dogs, but never one to get dragged around by a tight
leash... What else do they "train" them to do??

My Springer Spaniels' mom & dad competed in both show and agility trials.
As I see it to get the dog to be very alert & responsive to the slightest
command does require work. probably the handler needs as much training as
the dog.
Did you watch the Westminster kennels Dog Show Monday & Tuesday?
If you missed it, there will be an encore presentation later this week.
Good grief... a Beagle won Best in Show this year.

Have you ever watched Caesar Millan, the Dog Whisperer on TV? He teaches
folks to become the pack leader and get their dog to become submissive by
keeping the collar high on the neck and hold a short leash, exactly the way
folks parade their dogs at the kennel shows.

He is truly amazing when working with dogs.

Ever try to train cats? Sheesh. I got two sleeping on my desk and one
asleep on top of my printer. Yes, I *trained* them to sleep. And eat.
And poop in the litter boxes. Then I stopped their training. :-

Stand still and get their balls fondled and then those same fingers that
fondled there balls get shoved into their mouths. Not, that a dog
wouldn't effect the same thing by himself without the need for fingers
in the process.

Did I mention any cat names in that previous post? No? I didn't think so.

Do you guys have *any* brain power at all?

I was thinking of inviting him up to work on my Springer. With a regular
Martingale collar he pulls quite often.
The wife uses a 'Gentle Leader' and it's amazing how well that controls the
dog.
