Way OT Randy Quaid, kicked out of the actors unionfor life...?

http://www.nypost.com/seven/02062008...aid_779144.htm

So let me get this straight. He was thrown out of the union and
prevented from working, however they want him to pay an $81,000 fine.
What authority do they have to enforce the fine? I think the more
successful lawsuit will be from his end citing the unions restriction
against him making a living. My guess he'll be back in the union in no
time, maybe even hosting their next award show and joking about it.
Every performance has a fool. I think Quaid is a good actor and I
appreciate his creative process. :)

You should ask Harry, he's so refined and cultured that he watches all
of those Hollywood fictional movies.....

Yeah, and I'd think that the union would be more interested in sucking
up dues than kick out a payee.

But what I consider the irony is this.

Where was the union to protect him when the union was throwing him
out????

My understanding is that Quaid blew off his performances, walked off the
stage on several different dates, and by behaving in a highly
unprofessional manner, caused a number of performers and allied theater
workers to lose their jobs. He was brought up on charges by his fellow
Equity actors, and the charges stuck.

You're objecting to professionals policing their fellow professionals?

Mu guess is that he will pay the fines and apologize profusely for
insulting his fellow actors, and at that point, he will be let back into
the union.

I'm not sure that Quaid's ban from Equity performances also bans him
from SAG performances. Equity is for stage performances, while the
Screen Actors Guild/AFTRA is for movies and television. It ought to.

Not at all. Policing professionals by fellow professionals is good and
should be encouraged. and honestly, I wish it would happen more often
especially in the medical profession. (personal experience), but
that's another story....

My point should be that ifrhis report is correct, and before the crap
hit the fan with him (Quaid) that bad, why wasn't he fired and
replaced with an under study? it's happened before and I'm sure will
happen in the future

Somethings that should, just doesn't make sense.

His performance in NL Christmas Vacation was priceless, most especially his
scene with Chase while wearing the black dickie under the tight white v-neck
sweater.

A little snip from the movie: *http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43zizvvtJdk

The black dickie scene is at about 2:50 into the video. *;-)

I thought he did a good job in Frankenstein

And the Last Picture Show

fired.
