Cobra Shift Problem

It is my understanding that the interrupter just makes the
engagement of the gears easier- so that they don't grind.
I don't think a mis-adjusted interrupter would cause either
forward or reverse gears not to engage at all.
The big question still remains: What do you have to
do to get at the cable.
Thanks again. I know about the sites you mentioned.

sorry for the confusion on the interrupter, I was simply stating that
I used to have a 4.3 cobra and day 2 a bad interrupter sat me on the
mooring all day long for the 4th of july ( still had a great time
especially since my mooring was close to the beach they fired the
fireworks from)

and then I went on to what I hoped would help you = bad cable
(according to the link you already had) would lose forward which is
what you didn;t think it would. (answer to question #1)

don't trust my links to be the proper part ... I don't have the
specific part # for that cable since I gave the shop manual away with
the boat (or sold the manual and gave the boat for free ?)

I thought answer #2 might come from the good info link
http://www.funkopolis.com:8080/~stuart/cobra/

since the shop did my replacement at no cost to me, I didn;t even
consider doing it myself, it didn't seem to be a big deal for them,
my impression was they did it all from the inside and no dropping of
the drive.

" OMC Cobra Service Manual (page 11-16 in my copy). I have the two
applicable pages 11-16 (290k)
http://www.funkopolis.com:8080/~stua...ra/tcable1.jpg and 11-17
(288k) http://www.funkopolis.com:8080/~stua...ra/tcable2.jpg here.
This procedure requires only common wrenches, a straightedge, and a
ruler; note that subsequent Service Bulletins from OMC require you to
use special Cobra-specific tools to make this adjustment. "

again, sorry for the confusion with the interrupter ... I was just
rambling :)
