HK January 14th 08 06:45 PM

I've been 'volunteered'...

....for a "Free" vascular screening, in which "ultrasound is used to
create images of one's blood flow and detect blocked arteries."

OK, the prelude to the exhaust pipe exam was bad enough, now what am I
in for?

I wouldn't think there'd be any preparation at all like the rear port.

Don't know but I hope it turns out OK for you.

Me, too. I don't want to be roto-rootered.

Ultrasound was used to diagnose my lovely abdominal aortic aneurysm. They
don't hurt. Boring.

Nothing. Piece of cake. In fact, other than rolling this way and
that, it's the most boring test you can imagine.

My last operation, they made me take this stuff called phospho soda,
plus several pills of antibiotics that day and evening, that made me
sick as a dog! Yes, it is awful stuff, and it sure does clean out the
plumbing!

Personally,

I don't know about these kinds of tests...

Some people can have what shows to be 90% blockage
and never have a problem. Others, show little to no
blockage and drop dead from heart failure.

The body has a miraculous way of rerouting capillaries
around the heart to compensate for blockages. I believe
this characteristic is stronger in some than others.

I would question the results *whatever* they be and..

"Good luck with all that"

JMO.

I recall similar testing for lung disease pre-screening and remember
the results indicated it caused more anxiety regarding
false positives than you might imagine.

db~eat right, exercise, watch your cholesterol, blood pressure and don't sweat the small stuff.

I'm not really concerned. I don't have any symptoms. My wife volunteered
me for the test because I am old, decrepit, and well-insured. :}

I don't believe there's any special prep for this one. Ask your wife...
she's an M.D. isn't she?

Psychologist as I understand it. She probably viewed our LT hero as
an interesting case study.
