Yamaha Outboard
I have a 1996 two stroke Yamaha outboard (three cylinder/oil
injected). It has given me very good service for many years. It does however have one issue that I have been unable to deal with. I troll in the open ocean at about 10 miles per hour at 3000 rpm. I am continously adjusting the throttle control to keep the boat at or near 3000 rpm. It will vary from about 2500 to 3500 rpm which of course effects my speed and lures dramatically. This occurs much worse with rougher water and I expect. It does however have the same issue in good water conditions. I have, changed the throttle cable, cleaned and greased the throttle controls, cleaned the carborators, changed the fuel filters, and tried many other thigs without any improvement. I would greatly appreciate any help or suggestions. PS I have talked to dealers from Mexico to Alaska with no real help. Thanks for your help on this one. |

I would check the float and float level if it is carbed. |
