Eisboch I've ate pounds of alligator. Good stuff. I've also had deep fried turtle meat, which wasn't that great. Edible, but bland. In Florida and LA (and probably MS and Ala) it is very common in the independent and some chain restuarants.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - We had a really fun place out in the swamp when I lived in FL that served the best bar food ever! I loved going there on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, drink a few beers, eat, and watch the free show! |

They are actually a wide variety of species related to herring that are generally referred to as a sardine. King Oscar happens to be Brislings. Eisboch I like kipper snacks..... And smoked oysters, too! We used to often go to the Union Oyster House in Boston. Sit at the bar while they shuck the raw oysters, hand it to you and .... down the hatch. I am not brave enough to do that anymore. Eisboch- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Oh, I still eat raw oysters! |

We live about 1,000 feet from the Caloosahatchie. The red neck homes are getting fewer and farther apart as the river gets "discovered". The big houses don't all belong to yankees either. Some of those real estate, orange grove and cattle guys have done OK also. That's too bad; the "crackers" probably are the only real people around there. There are some real crackers that's for sure, not as many as north Florida though. |

It will take a lot longer to "develop" Texas though. There's hope for them yet. :-) |

Takes one stupid fish to bite on frozen bait presented in a box of sawdust. :-) Fish brains are really small. |

After the hurricane came through, no more Pop's place. Was one of the places that did not survive. The larger places just had the first floor washed. |
