boat lift wiring question

Those of you with boat lifts and who have submerged wiring (i.e. an
under water portion of a run from the controller to the motors) -- do
you know if the submerged portion of your wiring is inside conduit or
just along the bottom?

I have no idea what local codes suggest, or what's commonly done, but if
anyone does any fishing around your lift, I can envision them having a very
interesting day that doesn't involve fish. Why not use conduit and be safe?

Mine is in PVC conduit. It was done by a well know contractor here in
SWFL so presumably it meets local code. We have a *lot* of boat lifts
in this area.
