: http://tinyurl.com/2buhlk Jim, take a little cruise of Maemo Mapper, a freeware Google Earth that's connected to the WAAS/GPS bluetooth receiver for the Nokia N800 Linux internet tablet. It put you within 3' of the Virtual Earth, Google Earth or the great topographical maps of Terra Server....all free sources of data for it. The maps download on-the-fly, or you can preload them into the memory cards if you don't have a bluetooth data link to your cellphone. Watch the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=698iql3B824 Here it is in France: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sC3uV...eature=related The little GPS receiver is packaged with commercial Navicore nav software, which is totally separate from the hacker's Maemo Mapper. It drives you with audio and map routes. Here it is in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_c2bz...eature=related It's a full computer with lots of other functions besides navigation. While navigating, with the bluetooth connected through your cellphone or any wifi that will let you in, you can use email, webpages, talk on Skype or Google Talk (full webcam video on Google Talk from tiny cam that pops out) or other VoIP phone services, get weather and marine warning information in realtime just like you can on your web browser at home. Lots great boat things it can do....besides being able to zoom Google Earth in on that creek over there to see where it goes before going up it...(c; Larry -- Xterm IS the ultimate video game...(c; |

Tom look on your TOMTOM at state road 429 which starts in Apopka Florida and it ends at I4 near Clermont. My Garmin shows it ending where it crosses the Turnpike. This is a recently completed road and I'm curious as to weather TomTom shows the complete road. Thanks. Happy T day. Jim |

I see 429 and it looks like it connects, but a road name would help. Thanks. Happy T day. Back at 'cha. |

Thanks Jim Ok doke- give me a minute. Well... I'm going out on a limb here and say that yes - it does show the connector. What I can't make out is if it's marked as "completed" or as "proposed". I know that doesn't answer your question - thats' the best I can do. |

: There is going to be a huge backlash on Google stock eventually - you heard it here first. Within five years - bet on it. Commercial interests are putting out false information, it seems. AS I have reported before, I'm in possession of a new Nokia N800 Linux- powered internet tablet. Nokia also produces a really fantastic Bluetooth-connected 12 channel WAAS GPS receiver for this and their phone devices. The device comes with a license for Navicore, a locked up, commercial street navigator I wish I could get a refund on without sending back the GPS, which I can't. The reason is quite simple....Maemo Mapper.... The hackers have taken the concept of Google Earth and put it in my pocket, connected to several FREE map sources of maps, satellite photos, even topographical maps I can select, even add to if there are new ones. The software, Maemo Mapper, for this little internet tablet is free, open source Linux software in the Linux tradition. "So what?" The only backlash Google may feel is from the commercial map sellers trying to find a way to put a stop to them feeding me free data. If boaters can get Google interested in MARINE CHARTING, Garmin and the others selling data the PUBLIC PAID FOR will come to an end. Maemo Mapper is a simply fantastic tool. It puts your vehicle in the exact parking space of the satellite photo, following you around that satellite photo, overlaid with street information, WHILE YOU WALK! You don't need to be connected to the data over wifi or cellphone, either. You can upload the photos/maps to the 8GB SD cards (2) in the tablet before you leave your computer room....all free. Virtual Earth maps and data work best, here. It's uncanny how accurate it is.... search youtube for Maemo Mapper and see how it works.... I can't imagine a "Google backlash" when they're giving Google Earth and all the data necessary to make it work, away for FREE. I CAN see a backlash of Garmin who loves to produce proprietary maps, then stop supporting them so you have to replace a perfectly good working GPS every so often because of non-support. Damn them!
