2AM, alone in cockpit of Endeavour 35 in pitch black dark 90
miles off Savannah GA, headed for Charleston at 6 knots in 5'
seas in the glow of the RL70CRC and Garmin GPS.....half asleep on
autopilot.....
Suddenly, there's a whoosh just off to starboard, followed by a
loud splash and something that sounded like an air tank coming
apart....followed by complete silence, only the waves slapping
the hull.
I'm now wide awake to maintain my midwatch....and the whole 4-8
watch! I didn't even bother to wake Lloyd, who looked perplexed
when he woke up about 6:30 and cooked breakfast. Adrenaline
SUPERCHARGED!....that was ME! I could hear satellites pass
overhead!
