what the local conditions are in a nearby waterfront location.

I'll grant you that, but it is very useful for forecasting weather for
the entire region 2-3 days out..

I believe that certain home weather stations, and I forget which ones,
are delivered with that web software as an option. In other words,
you could create a site like that anywhere.
