Wimmins!

Grrr. My fishing partner for tomorrow (sunday) just called to cancel
out, because he has a "new girlfriend" and is spending the weekend
shacked up with her.

Wimmins!

What do they have to offer to compare with dead squid, bloodworms,
fishing hooks and the smell of salt air!

Anyway, I have room for a "crew" tomorrow. So if the area between Deale,
MD, and Solomons Island, MD, is in your ranging area, and you want to be
part of the Federal FishFeeding Follies, contact me here.

Now there's an idea. With dreary damp dark cold weather on the way, I
should paint tropical island scenes on my windows...
beautiful beaches, graceful sailboats, lovely native girls.......
Winter wouldn't seem quite so bad.

My buddy in the BVI lives on a 32 foot sailboat.... probably a fraction of
the living space.
He's always after me to come on down.. but I might feel a bit closed
in....living on that boat for a couple of weeks.
I suppose you'd be outside, ashore or whatever most of the time.

We got tired of living aboard our 32 footer after about a week, even though
we moved to different ports several times.

On the other hand, I would think that living aboard a 50 footer like Wayne's
and Eisboch's boats would be quite different. In Wayne's case it looks like
he travels to some interesting areas.

I always enjoyed the mornings.......sipping on a freshly brewed cup of
coffee while sitting in the cockpit and taking in the sunshine.

Much to Mrs.E's chagrin, I could easily live aboard the Navigator. It's
just big enough (52' LOA with a 15+' beam) to not feel cramped. It also has
a layout that feels very open and spacious. If we end up keeping it
(meaning the GB sells first) I am seriously thinking about eliminating the
forward stateroom double bed setup and installing a desk, fixtures and
whatever in it's place. It would make a great office space and we really
don't need the extra stateroom. The conversion is a little more complicated
than simply removing the bed, but I am working on the plans.

The GB, at 36' can get a little closed in after a while, but a few trips
ashore fixes that.

This is my dilemma. I like both boats, but can't realistically expect to
live aboard either one permanently (although I came close this summer). We
really don't want to maintain two boats, but which one to focus on selling?
We'll see.

I don't think downsizing is an option. I like having the space.

There's an interesting one a few slips down from me. A little small and
old, but it *is* all steel, including the decks and superstructure.

There's also a big (like 65'-70') classic trawler here that really is
something to see.
It was formerly owned by Jimmy Buffett.

It's too dark to take pictures right now .... besides the Sox game is about
to start ....
but I'll take a couple of cell phone pics tomorrow.

If you really are going to explore the world, and not just the coastal
areas, I think a steel hulled boat is what you want. The problem with
most of the larger displacement boats though, is that they really draw a
lot of water.

When I first got into boating on the Bay, in the 1970s, I had an S2 9.2
sailboat, a 30-footer. More of a cruiser than a racer, but it sailed
nicely. Damned thing drew 5' of water, though, and this was a real
annoyance in the Bay along the edges...and you can find the edges a mile
offshore in many places.
