Outboard seems to slip out of gear at higher revs

I have a 112 hp Eviinrude that works fine until the boat almost gets
going fast enough to plane out. Then the RPMs zoom up but the boat
doesn't go any faster (and probably is slowing down but I throttle
back as soon as this happens). Any ideas what's causing this? Thanks.

Prop hub is slipping. Have it overhauled.

as suggested, prop hub is a likely problem -- but is this a new boat to you?
if it is, another thing to look at is ventilation.
