Would you say it was a fair trade, Bayliner 2052LX for a GlastronGS229

Hi rec.boaters

I was just wondering what you guys might think to this swap if i was
to approach this guy to ask.

My boat a Bylr 2052LX yr2000, 4.3efi merc in good condition to offer a
straight swap
for a Glastron GS229 yr 1998 with a volvo 5ltr also in fair to good
condition.

I'm on my 2nd 2052lx and would'nt say no to a change but i do also
like my boat,
plus its probably lighter to tow but just a bit more space would'nt go
a miss.

I know nothing about Glastrons, how do they compare to Bayliners?

Thankyou
Simon

I have a 1997 GS209 - Glastron. 4.3L Volvo Penta. The hull seems solid.
I am not crazy about the carpeting which was glued on.......the floor is not
glassed but just a marine plywood. I was also not crazy about the seating
so I made some changes there.

After bugs caused by my previous marina's mechanics were worked out at the
end of last season I have had zero problems with it. Fun little boat. When
I trailered it the first season I got close to 45 mph on the pitot tube
speedo. I barrier coated and bottom painted it as we dock it now and lost
some speed. GPS WOT speed is now close to but not reaching 40 mph.

I never owned a Bayliner but hear that the new ones offer some great value.
Prior to the Glastron I owned a Maxum 3200SCR (Brunswick family with
Bayliner and SeaRay) and had zero structural or mechanical problems with it.

As a heads up trade I would do it.....assuming apples for apples on
accessories and trailers and assuming you are not trading for a lemon.

If you make the trade make sure to have the boat surveyed ahead of time both
structurally and mechanically, including a compression test on the engine.
Find a good buyers surveyor in your area and use him.

I should also point out i suppose, that if i was to upgrade to a
slightly larger boat, then the one thats
taken my fancy is the Rinker 232. I only noticed the Glastron and
price and thought it was a similar type of boat,
but the Rinker really is the one i'd like at the end of the day.Maybe
i should just wait and save and buy what i really want :-)

Cheers again guys
Simon
