What did you ever do with that Princecraft Yukon you had for sale?

I was just talking to a local dealer about the Starcraft 16' and he's
saying they start at $16K all fitted out.
If a comfy seat (for the wife) could be added to yours... it would be quite
a deal.

Not a problem. Can be done sans much expense at all.

I could be talked into bringing it up to Halifax - you'd need to pay
for the gas.

Oh.......that monster truck of yours? My Map Point 2002 says it's about 750
miles from Halifax to Hartford Conn.
Your gas bill might exceed the value of the boat! ;-)

I would be glad to drag it up there, I have to go up there before the
end of summer anyway. That would be incentive to actually take the
trip.

I'd bet twice that each way...... although your gas may be a bit cheaper
down there.
If you're serious, I'd like to take you up on it. The trip up here would
be all 'milk & honey' once you passed Calais, Maine...... and after you
reach the Nova Scotia border, the distances between points seems a joke
compared with the rest of the country.
Note: I don't bother with the ferry. It's sailing schedule and cost
doesn't seem worthwhile compared to driving around.
On the other hand it might be fun to sail on 'The Cat' at least once.

If you are serious about buying the boat, let's do this - you pay for
the way up and I'll pay for the way back. Seems fair enough. That
way it's only going to cost you $100 - I'll even accept Canadian. :)

My friends 19 year old son went to Windsor a few weekends ago with his buds
to hit the bars and gaming tables. He had no problems.......except on the
drive back from Windsor into Michigan where he was profiled because of his
dreadlocks/age and thoroughly searched. His documentation though (birth
certificate and drivers license) was never an issue though.

I have a funny story about the Detroit-Windsor crossing.

During our national debacle against Vietnam, I was working for a federal
agency, and at the time in question, I was assigned to a project
underway in the Detroit area.

One of my best high school chums, Jimmy M., was drafted right after he
was graduated from the University of Connecticut. Though in good health,
he was not really an appropriate specimen for cannon fodder. Jimmy was a
first generation American. His grandfather was involved in the Tan war
against the Brits, and after the Irish parliament failed, the entire
family, including Jimmy's father emigrated here. To say this was an
anti-establistment family would be a gross understatement.

Anyway, Jimmy tried to become a C.O., and to work as a medic or
something similar, but the idiots in the military decided he should be a
rifleman. He deserted during basic training.

Jimmy emigrated to Canada, where he became a citizen, and a good one at
that, with a nice-sized construction business. At the time of this
incident, he was living in Windsor and we used to meet to toss back a
few once or twice a month, but always on the Canadian side.

The funny part: somehow the feds, I think it was the FBI, found out who
my friend was and two agents came to see me at my office. I was working
out of the Penobscot Building, and our offices faced the Detroit River
and therefore Windsor.

So, the suits asked me if I knew where Jimmy was. "Sure," I said, "he's
over there." I was pointing to Canada. We talked for a while and I
"admitted" that I met Jimmy every so often over there. These agents
wanted me to get Jimmy back over to Detroit on a ruse, so they could
arrest him.

I remember bursting out in laughter and telling the feds to get the hell
out of my office. Right...I was going to drop a dime on a lifelong friend.

Indeed it is. Jimmy, however, would not have fired a shot at the north

that, with a nice-sized construction business.

Your high regard for deserters is an admirable trait, Harry! You are
such a cool guy. It's no wonder you command such respect from the
folks here.
