What should I look for and look out for when buying one, such as
material of the top, frame, fittings, etc..... This will be for use in a
salt water environ.

Just go to a ramp and get one from the same type boat when they go to get
the tow vehicle. ;)

An aluminum or stainless frame would be fine.
Top should be Sunbrella.
Most come in kits with all the hardware needed for the installation.
Installation is an easy 2 man job.

I got mine he http://www.coversearch.com/
