Piece of crap...
So, it's about 9:30 pm and I am just coming off the water. There is a
18-20 foot bowrider, very nice, very new, next to me. The guy and his kid get out to go retrieve his trailer. I walk up the ramp about a minute later not really paying attention to the pickup truck in the handicapped slot by the ramp which is not lighted. We both drive back up, and the truck is gone. and so is the guys Bimini! It was on the grass on the side of the ramp, not on his boat. But some piece of **** stole the guys top. I am lucky as I had a bunch of poles, and a crate of nice boating equipment sitting right across the ramp, but the guy obviously wanted the top. Unfortunately, neither one of us even saw what color the truck was, or the driver, but it might have been an older Ford 150, 4x4 with stock tires. But anyway, I know this group is small, but if you live near Crystal Lake, in Stafford CT, and you see a pickup truck driving neighbor or contractor with a new/used Bimini that does not seem to fit right... the guy is filing a report with the Ellington PD. |

This probably isn't the first time this cretin has ripped somebody off. He will be easy to spot- he's the guy hanging around boat ramps *without* a boat. Maybe even without a hitch... |

Maybe even without a hitch...- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - At this ramp, you probably wouldn't notice someone hanging out by the water, parked on the side. There's usually someone there either swimming at the launch, or just sitting on the grass spot fishing. Like I said, it is such a dark ramp, none of us could even tell what color the truck was and we all walked by at no more than 6 feet, and I did not even notice anyone in the truck. The ramp is surrounded on three sides with houses and a bunch of folks probably walked by too that evening, but there is no street light in sight. At the same time I can understand that as all the houses are two story and close, and to put in a light, would illuminate their whole yards like a parking lot and be way out of place for that shoreline too. I always feel bad when I come off the water at night so I back in all sideways so my headlights don't shine in one guys windows. I also try to be quiet (some don't bother) which is admittedly easier with a wooden boat. |

Not sure, but you might want to check ebay and see if it's beeing
off'd at auction. Won't be the first time somebody has sold hot stuff though the media. many (not all, though) have been caught too! wrote: So, it's about 9:30 pm and I am just coming off the water.
