They require the cable provider to carry X channel on basic service, or if you want this channel, you must buy these 5 also and carry them. The cable company would happily give you a'la carte, if they were allowed to purchase the channels that way. sam |

The problem I see, from a business standpoint, is that although some customers like me will certainly upgrade and buy a few channels, many customers who have the premium package will also downgrade. The cable company could find out who might do what, but that would involve a survey, which makes too much sense. Why would Time Warner want to make a better business decision rather than a lame one? That's silly. |

DirecTV lets you add channels individually to the basic package. At least those that aren't 'premium' channels. I added one of the outdoor channels to pickup the few boating programs available. The cable company would happily give you a'la carte, if they were allowed to purchase the channels that way. That's nonsense. |
