You don't need to sit through hours of courses to learn one rule.

I think it's quite safe to assume that if you don't know that one
rule...

Gee....ya think? Nothing like a blinding flash of the obvious. I
asked
about
the rule, so obviously I did not know it.

You with me so far?

As far as safety, I've was handling a 47 foot boat quite nicely when
I
was
16 years old. Took all the courses, etc etc. My current boat was
boarded
a
couple of years ago, and I was given a ticket for not having a piece
of
equipment NOT required by the CG. I ended up helping some young guy
learn
the rules, with the help of his CO.

Somehow, you've completely failed to convince me of your competence.
If a newcomer to this group were to ask the same basic question you
asked, there would have been 20 responses advising you that you need
to take a safe boating course. My advice that you seriously need to
take a safety course stands, and your "know-it all" responses only
re-inforce that opinion.

Why do I need to convince YOU?

I don't know, but you seem to have made it a high priority. So far,
you might have convinced yourself, but that's about it. And even that
would require a fair amount of intellectual dishonesty on your part.

You didn't respond to my question about water temperature. Could you
please
do so in your next message?- Hide quoted text -

Then what Joe? What if he said he could not tell you to a degree what
the temp is in his tank, what does that prove? I guess I am a little
slow today!

It's rude to second guess people, so let's wait until this time tomorrow and
see if he answers the question. Then, I'll explain why I asked.- Hide quoted text -

Perfect analogy:

He can't tell us the water temperature. Therefore, he is not qualified to
operate any plumbing device or appliance which uses hot water.

Not knowing the water temperature of you hot water tank will not land you in
jail.

Not allowing the CG onto your boat will because you think they need a search
warrant will.

Yes Doug, perfect analogy. shakes head and walks away

Perhaps, but not knowing that the CG needs no warrant in no way means
someone is an usafe boater. You know that. You'll argue the point anyway,
but who cares?

Can you use 1400 cases of Prego pasta sauce? Nice fresh product, delivers
late next week. Twelve 26oz jars per case. $17.00 per case. $23,800.00. You
can swing that.

I can swing it - what the hell would I do with it?

And no, I'm not going to open a pizza shop.

Or an Italian Resturant. :)

Prego is the worst stuff made. I'd rather put peanut butter on my pasta.

What's to argue?

Do you know the legal cargo weight limit of the next container ship you
happen to see a picture of? If you don't know that rule, does it reflect on
your skill as a pilot of your own boat? Of course not.
