Going to tow up to Vancouver Island. Anybody in the region know where to
buy Gulf Island and Ucluelet charts?

You'll need Vancouver Island west for Ucluelet and Vancouver Island
East for the Gulf Islands if you buy the raster CD's.

Be sure to carry an official Canadian tide and current table as well.

People are not often stopped up in Canada, but if you are stopped they
place a great emphasis on having official Canadian Hydrographic charts
aboard.

You might find a "deal" on a paper chart someplace as well.....Canada
just cancelled either most or all of the reseller's licenses earlier
this spring and CHS is going to be pretty much the sole official
source of official charts.

I thought of a couple of other alternatives for you as well.

First, you might see if this company has any second hand charts.

http://www.secondwave.cc/

They have scond hand everything else. Call the Fremont Store, ask for
Mr. Krisologo, and you can tell him I referred you. (That way you'll
pay 20% more and I get a cut......just kidding!...but we go back a
ways and he's likely to give you extra special service))......If they
don't have what you want they will put you on a "want list", and as
there is a steady stream of people bringing stuff through the door for
consignment.

Another source for paper charts would be:

If you're trailering up to Port Angeles to cross Juan de Fuca on the
Blackball you will probably take 101 from California and not come
through Seattle. Either of these firms would mail a purchase to you.

If you're coming through Seattle and if you can have them back to me
by the first of August, I have some Gulf Island charts I'll loan you.
Stop by on your way through town.

Coming through Seattle but will buy charts. Cheaper with the boat in tow to
go the BC Ferries insted of Blackball. Overlength is a killer on BB.
Thanks for the offer.
