Default Something rotten in the state of eBay...

Check this out.

I was looking at Clam's Johnson Stinger ad on eBay yesterday - I
haven't been to eBay in over a year.

I just checked my email and there were four PayPal fakes concerning
purchases I made all to different sellers.

So that would seem to indicate to me, and I'm not the smartest guy on
the face of the planet, that something is rotten at eBay.

I just purchased some camera lens filters from ebay last week, and
visited ebay to look at the General sale. I didn't get any PayPal
emails. I want to know why!!!!!!!! I am not good enough to scam?

ps - If anyone wants really great prices on name brand filters visit:
http://hvstar.net/index.asp?PageActi...ATS&Category=8

After I paid for the filters, I found out they sell under the name
besteastern on ebay, but you can save a few bucks on their direct link
above.

I generally don't like XXXXXX_sucks.com websites, since they tend to
be disgruntled employees or other miscreants..... but this one is
right on target:

http://www.paypalsucks.com/

Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt.....

I check eBay motors every so often in hopes of finding an old Sidcraft
with a racing Merc engine like my father used to run.

Bad karma. No doubt about it. No other possible explanation. End of
story. ;-)

FWIW, I get the Pay Pal messages frequently, and I never go to Ebay. I
sure as hell don't click on anything in the Pay Pal messages.

Same here. I've never bought anything off e-bay and have no intention of
doing so.
I used to get the e-mails from paypal talking about my account..and I should
reply to the e-mail ASAP blah blah.
Guess they'll have to find some other mark to play their scam on.

Tom, that's nothing new. I could delete them, but I usually forward
them to

THEN! Ebay writes back with the typical form letter[s] from either
them or SafeHarbor.

THEN!

I delete them.

Never stops but it's just that crazy thing I do.

It's called "phishing". Millions of these things are sent to email
addresses generated by computers. Sometimes they are valid address, most
times not.

I have received them from banks that I have never done business with. The
senders only have to have a couple of unsuspecting recipients reply and
provide account information, then the accounts are drained.

We all know what it is... well, most of us do anyway. In case you
misunderstood, the OP was writing about how he hadn't been to the ebay site
in over a year, then he did... once, and immediately started receiving these
emails. His point was, that perhaps ebay is doing something fishy (pun
intended), in allowing his email address leaked to the phishers once he
logged on to the site. Sounds phishy to me. Possibly a coincidence as
well... who knows.

IMHO
I just forward all of the spam to or
they can then work to shut the sites down.
