Darn Weather Forecasters!!!!
 

The weather for today was predicted yesterday to be sunny and 70 with
possibility of showers on Sunday.

Turns out to be wave after wave of rain showers and 58.

They cannot even get it right 18 hours in advance! Washed out
today.........no working on the boat. ;-(

I still haven't removed the cover from my boat yet. Maybe I should have
bought the 10' x 20' portable garage Costco had on sale last month.
At least I could do a little work on the boat without taking a bath.

Down to wash the boat today and prep for a long outing next weekend.
I'm going to be trying out a new type of boat cleaner that is non-
detergent and consists of all natural
citrus and vegetable oils. We're battling the state and local
governments over the use of "soap" when washing boats and there is
some preliminary indication that this new formulation *might* get the
tacit approval of at least the city regulators. I got one of the first
half-dozen or so sample jugs from a new local distributor so it will
be interesting to see if and how well this stuff works. I just hope it
doesn't dissolve paint. :-)

Slight overcast and will get to be 70 in Seattle today, but currently
blowing pretty hard. It's possible to work on the boat year around
when in covered moorage, but you can't varnish when it's less than
about 50-degrees and expect good results.

mutters something about global cooling then writes, Yeah, I bought one
of those tube tents last season, have not put it up yet but thanks for
reminding me. All folded up nice in the box and since my boat is only
16 feet, the 20 x 10 tent will do nicely.

I bought on of those at Sam's Club two years ago and store the '55 pickup in
it during the winter. The secret is to anchor it well. I drove 2.5'
sections of rigid EMT conduit next to each tent pole then clamped the poles
to the EMT with a couple of large hose clamps. This is in addition to the
rope stays anchored into the ground or tied to nearby trees.

It's withstood some 50-60 mph winds, rain and snow with no problems.

While not a Costco item we went in with a few of our neighbors on an
aluminum pole/frame tent that is about the same dimensions. We have used it
a couple of times for large outdoor functions during the summer in case it
rained......it also does a nice job of blocking the sun on hot sunny days.

How is the updated boat running and looking?

I was able to get down to the boat and install a new swim 3 step telescoping
swim ladder.......the old 2 step ladder was not the easiest to get onto when
in deep water. I timed it perfectly in between the rain. It is now
raining once again.

I used it this afternoon and would say that it doesn't stip wax- as
far as I can observe.
