I may be wrong, but I think that Dale was the inspiration for Leo
Fender to design and market the left handed Strat.

Link Wray was the seminal influence for rock guitarists, had a much
more eclectic sound and years earlier.

Dale deserves his due for his interesting sound, but compared to Wray,
he was strictly an amateur.
