For more than a decade, thousands of miles of our rivers and streams, as
well as the Chesapeake Bay, have been on the Environmental Protection
Agency’s “dirty waters” list. Pollution has made many of them unhealthy for
fish and unsafe for swimming.

The solutions are simple. But they lack funding and political will.

Fortunately, a solution is on the immediate horizon. CHESSEA is legislation
that would authorize millions of dollars of federal Farm Bill funding to
help farmers from Pennsylvania to Virginia implement smart conservation
practices on their land.

You can make a difference. But you have to act fast. Send the embedded
e-alert to your U.S. Senators today and ask them to co-sponsor CHESSEA.
Please tell your Senators that you want clean water in your local rivers
and streams, and in the Bay. Ask them to support more conservation dollars
in the Farm Bill. Ask them to ensure CHESSEA is made a part of the Farm
Bill.
