Had My Opening Day!
Nothing but fair weather in California with an occasional rain shower this
year. Bad tidings for lake levels and drinking water for this overpopulated state! On the other hand, great days for taking the boat out! I cleaned up my boat, Sea Ray 185 Sport, and charged the battery and fired up the motor last weekend. Yesterday, my friend called and said "Let's go fishing." I said, "Ok." We trailered to Clear Lake and launched at Lakeport. Light winds. Blue skies. Mid 70's. Uncrowded (it's a big lake and it was a weekday). Flat water. Deli sandwiches, sodas, double-stuff Oreo's, Opened up the throttle a couple of times, otherwise just cruised from fishing hole to fishing hole for 8 hours on a beautiful day. Boat ran well and all things seem in order for a fresh boating season. It was a great day! |

Down to the 60's and rain forcast for Monday with a 3000' snow level. 62 degrees at sea level for a high. But warming to the 70's towards Thursday. We do need more precipitation. |

I didn't mention the fish because, well, because we didn't catch any! The
bass were everywhere and we got hits all day, but none were willing to take the bait hook line and sinker. A couple of guys said they had luck with live minnows, but we didn't have live bait. Thanks for bringing that subject up for discussion. "Charlie Morgan" wrote in message ... On Sat, 24 Mar 2007 22:39:45 GMT, "Bryan" wrote: We trailered to Clear Lake and launched at Lakeport. Strangely, no mention of catching any fish! 8^) CWM |

I thought some would appreciate the report as tidings of good things to come. It was especially important to me to get the boat out; I'm having back surgery in a few weeks and worry about when I can get back on the water! |

I wish I had been prepared to dig the boat out. I want to work on it in the worst way, but the only place I have at my house is the lawn, and it's waaay too soggy and tracks up easily. errrr! maybe next week the lawn will solidify that is, if no more rain, and then can I plan out what I want to do to it. |
