i pulled the lower unit off my 1961 45 horse mecrury and when
reinstalled found i can only get forward and neutral or rev and
neural but not all three are there any tricks to linen up the splines
or a certian gear it has to be in please help. lake is melted and i
need to get my fishin game on

Try putting it up with the lower unit AND the gear shift in neutral. It's
tricky but doable.
