What are the best online Canoe and Kayak Stores?
Please respond with whatever you consider to be the best online canoe /
kayak store(s). Feel free to break it into two categories, one for canoes, one for kayaks, if that's appropriate. Also, in the camera world there are online stores that are great for buying new gear and stores that are great for buying used gear, with some overlap. Is there anything like that in the canoe / kayak world? Thanks. -- www.mattclara.com |

Thanks. -- www.mattclara.com I like Rutabaga in Madison, WI the best...www.Rutabaga.com They just wrapped up their yearly Canoecopia which they claim is the largest event like that in the country...lots of great deals...reps...lots of energy and really nice people. I've met many of them over the years at different events or at the store and feel good supporting them (a class act) with much of my online purchasing (IMHO)...I use NRS for many things also. Just my 2 cents. Dan O...Minneapolis, MN |

This is entirely opposed to the rest of my internet product purchase experience: B&H for photography, Amazon for books, Tiger Direct for computer parts, etc., with many lesser but worthy stores, and a query for such here illicits a single reply--hardly definitive. I guess I should open that store myself??!! -- www.mattclara.com |

I guess I should open that store myself??!! Matt, also consider the location of the posters. I live a continent away from you, so for me Amazon is not at all that interesting, since they charge more shipping costs and aren't that cheap if I have to pay the import taxes as well. The same goes for B&H, which also doesn't have all the camera's that I would like to buy (It didn't have the last camera I was looking at). On top of that, having a local store that also has an online shop can be a big advantage if you can combine the lower prices with a nearby place to go to in case of a warranty. Finally, I haven't seen many differences between the prices of online paddling shops and their over the counter variety in this vicinity. That makes buying online with the additional shipping cost less interesting for me. I like to see what I buy, especially in the case of most paddling gear. -- Wilko van den Bergh wilkoa t)dse(d o tnl Eindhoven The Netherlands Europe ---Look at the possibilities, don't worry about the limitations.--- http://kayaker.nl/ |

They can make recommendations and answer my questions. I like the atmosphere of the place too. |
