Hi folks,

I've just finished putting together a database site where paddlers
(particularly in Canada - for now) can post and share launch locations.
There's also a forum (for those poor souls who don't understand the usenet).

Anyway, as I'm just getting started, I'd really appreciate it if you
would take a look and add a paddling spot or two to the database so this
site can actually become useful.

Thanks for reading.

Cool site Scott! One question, does CA require lights such a headlamps
while paddling at night? If so I'd be breaking Canadian law when I
paddle whitewater by full moonlight! Headlamps completely ruin my
moonlight WW paddling experience! I mean, they're a good idea in an
emergency, but the full moon sheds all the light I *need*, yano?

Hey John,
Thanks for checking out the site!
Unfortunately, yes, lights are required by Transport Canada. I guess the
government folk don't do much moonlight paddling or they'd understand
our need to NOT have lights ruining the experience for us...
Ah well... you're only guilty if you get caught, and how can they catch
you if you don't have lights! :)

Cheers,

In a paddle craft, you are required to have a light, but it does not
have to be on all the time. You have to show the light if there is
another vessel in the area.

Whitewater rivers may not fit the description of a navigable waterway,
so the rules may be different there as well.
