Tranducers -- Dual frequency vs dual beam?
What's the difference between dual frequency and dual beam tranducers?
I did a google on it; and just got a link to garmin "what's the difference".. but it didn't talk about the difference. Dual beam transducers transmit two widths - usually 18 to 22 degrees and 43 to 47 degrees. Each beam has two elements - a transmit element and a recieve element. The dual beam system is designed for shallow water (wide) and deep water (narrow). Dual beam transducers have to be selectable and they don't work on all depth finders. Dual frequency transducers transmit 50 Khz and 200 Khz for exactly the same reasons. So, that's the difference. |
