Now John...if you keep this agitating up, we may have to reconsider your
application for membership.
After all... you did insist that you have hazel eyes on two separate
occasions in the last day.

Don, it takes much more than eye color. I know I could never be as neat as
you three, and wouldn't even give it a shot.

So I take it you're now excluding Tim?
Don't you think he can be a neat person? If you had any honour, you'd send
back that gift he so generously shipped to you.

If all I could wish for for others was a "decent" day, I'd seek
professional counseling for depression.

A boating resource of daily words with historical interest as they relate
to boating. A daily series.

Ahoy!! (nautical salutation)

Normally thought to be the proper nautical salutation when greeting
another ship or nautical colleagues, it may have been derived from an
ancient Viking Battle Cry.

Alexander Graham Bell once believed that Ahoy would be the appropriate
salutation for answering the telephone.

Adjacent to Ahoy is the term Yo-Ho! a slight twist on Ahoy.

Victorian writers used Yo-Ho's to add spice to their characters and
songs.
Operattas by Gilbert and Sullivan such as "The Mikado" - "The happiest
hour a sailor sees - Is when he down - At an inland town - With his
Nancy
on his knees - YO HO!!

Another intersting use of Ahoy is Ahoy-Hoy - an affectation used by the
social hoity-toity. Ahoy-hoy is also a running joke on the cartoon show
"The Simpsons" as a greeting by the ancient and ever so miserly Mr.
Burns.

After full review your boating related post has been fully approved by the
Gould NG Review Team granting you 2 OT posts today without fear of
reprisal
or reprimand from the Gould NG Sheriff Department.

Thank you very, very, much JimH. And I mean that sincerely. Nobody
could have illustrated my opinion any more clearly or accurately. You
have helped me build my case very nicely.

Stating once again: The problem with all of the off-topic crap (even
though you don't "have" to read it) is that it attracts an element to
the NG who care little or nothing about boating and are only here to
ooh-and-ahh at the fireworks and attempt to start trouble. These,
ahem, "individuals" (I'm a master of restraint this morning) then take
their obsessions with various imagined personalities to a level where
they believe it's a good idea to wade into the on-topic threads
and steer the discussion toward their personal animus against
individual X or Y.

Nice job of screwing up Tom's boating related post, JimH. And I see
your two-man fan club is already giving you their high fives for your
efforts. From my perspective you have merely proven once again why the
OT threads damage the group, so thanks for that.

===================

Let me explain this to you slowly........his post was meant as a jab and a
joke. You obviously did not get it because you take this NG
wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy tooooooooooooo seriously.

BTW: *You* are the one who actually proved *my* point. ;-)

Yo-Ho has become such a famous nautical term that some have named boats
after it. And then again, on the streets of D.C. one will often hear,
shouted from car windows, "YO, HO! How much for the night?"

You've provided a valuable resource.

From whence came Tim? I said nothing about Tim. This gift thing's really
bugging you isn't it?

If you want Tim to join your group, you must invite him.

My new downfall is Stella D'oro Anisette Toast with coffee. Having watched
the calories faithfully for almost 4 months, those damn things are going to
screw me all up if I don't stop buying them. Two or three with a cup of
coffee is fine, but it's hard to stop there.

I had to stop eating Ho-Hos because I would buy them by the box. When I
did, they never even made it home.

Like the Stella D'oro Anisette Toast, but it's not quite the same - I
get tired of the anisette flavor very quickly.

Blood Sweat & Tears Hi De Ho lyrics

(G. Goffin, C. King)
(as sung by BS&T, slightly different than original lyrics)
Hi De Ho
Hi De Hi
Gonna Get me
A piece of the pie
Gonna get me
Some of that Old Sweet Roll
Singin' Hi de hi de hi de hi de Hooooo
I've been down so low
Bottom looked like up
Once I thought that seconds saves
was enough to fill my cup
So I proffered all I got
But it ain't no way to live
Being taken by the ones who got
The least amount to give
Hi de ho
Hi de hi
Gonna get me a piece of the sky
Gonna get me some of that old sweet roll
Singing hi de hi de hi de hi de hooooo.
instrumental interlude
Once I met the devil
He was mighty slick
Tempted me with worldly goods
Said -you can have your pick-
But when he laid that paper on me
And he showed me where to sign
I said thank you very kindly
But I'm in too good-a mood to mind
Hi de ho
Hi de hi
Gonna get me a piece of the sky
Gonna get me some of that old sweet roll
Singin' hi de hi de hi de hi de hooooo.
Hi de ho
Hi de hi
Gonna get me a piece of the sky
Gonna get me some of that old sweet roll
Singin' hi de hi de hi de hi de hoooo
(repeat to fade)
