Dan, If I were you I'd head right straight to the shower after that
one.

A comment like that would just make me feel dirty all over. :-(

Sure. Like your buddy Krause?

Is that a question? We use "?" after sentences that are questions down
here in the US, Don. If it is a question, the answer is no but you
already knew that.- Hide quoted text -

Yep - Bassy is back. Same sentence structure, same inane
commentary, same manic/depressive personality.

Welcome back Bassy.

Can't be. The heuristics are all wrong. Normally, Bassie, Don, and Harry
would be holding hands as they tiptoe through these here tulips. Don and
Harry aren't lovingly holding Dan's hand, therefore Dan cannot be
Basskisser.- Hide quoted text -

There are more than one sets of heuristic values.

According to the take-the-best heuristic, when making a judgment based
on multiple criteria, the critieria are tried one at a time according
to their cue validity, and a decision is made based on the first
criterion which discriminates between the alternatives.

There are no criteria which discriminate between Dan and
Basskisser.

Thus Dan is Basskisser. :)

You think Dan has teamed up with his brother Fred?

I'm thinking Freddie was the nicest kid in the family.

You may be right: when it comes to personality as displayed here,
DanKrueger is less nice than Freddie.

Harry, how can you possibly make disparaging comments about folks who hold
you in such high regard? Your attitude and abilities are inspirational.
You

Had some last week - about 1/2 inch.

Other than that - cold.

In the 18 some odd years since we installed the Jotul
wood stove, we have never burned 24/7 for longer than
one of two days. This cold snap has been on for a week
and it hasn't stopped burning.

I'm impressed though - keeps the house at an even
70 and is very efficient with the wood.

Do you have an insert or a self standing stove. I've thought about an
insert, but we'll be moving in a couple years. My mom had an insert in
Seattle and it did a great job.

Standalone wood stove. Keeps the whole house at a nice
toasty warm 70/75, 24/7.

Very efficient too - in conditions like this, I don't burn a lot
of wood.

Inserts can be a good option and increase the value of your
fire place, but they aren't as efficient.

Stay away from pellet stoves unless you are planning on
putting the stove in the basement. They are noisy as hell.

LOL!!

My youngest son is a trooper in South Carolina and he is
constantly amazed at how a simple 1/2" of snow can
cripple the interstate and local roads.

The county builds three 'snow days' into the schedule. If they aren't used,
then the school year must end three days before the scheduled date. This
does some heavy duty screwing with the end of year schedule. Therefore,
this late in the winter, the county will look for reasons to give 'snow
days'. This was the first for this school year.

No, the only thing I'd consider is an insert. But, we only use the
fireplace ten or twelve days a year, so the insert would be an
extravagance.
