I gave it a go and really like OE better. What are the advantages of using
Agent 4.2 over OE as a NG reader? I could not find any.

Ummm, OK. But I will still stick with OE and prescreen my email with
Mailwasher Pro. ;-)

You lost me there! You'd rather pay more money for Mailwasher Pro than
Agent and then manually screw around with two programs instead one
program..... and that one performs the same chores automatically?

Ooooookkaaaaay......

I guess so.

It's been so long since I've used another news reader, I'm not up on
what they can & can't do. I originally switched to Agent because it's
so much more stable than OE or Netscape. Then I got hooked on its
versatility (some people call that "complicated", but it can be set up
as complicated or as automated or as simple as you want) and the idea
that it's inherently not prone to virus attack. Also like the way it
doesn't need the registry and can be copied willy nilly here and there
without "Installing" anything. Being a "text only" reader, it's fast
as hell (especially important to anyone on dial up). Plus, the
filtering features are the best of any news reader I know. Can other
readers filter out messages cross posted to "X" number of other
groups? Or "Ignore Subthreads"? (like I say, I don't know what others
can do).
Anyhow, that's just off the top of my head. Given some thought, I can
probably come up with quite a long list of advantages.
Anyhow, I like it..... a lot.

Rick
