Anybody using a box anchor?

I don't know anything about a box anchor,. Come to think of it, I don't
really know much of anything about an anchor at all.

When I aquired my Marquis cuddie, The people that had it before me used
to fish on Lake Erie a lot, and they had one of these :

They just had it sitting in the transom of the boat.

With exception of the wide cross bar, it's identical. It probably
weighs about 30-35 lbs. and I don't have any use for it, seeing the
places I'll be going, there really isn't any current, and I really
don't have a need to lock down.

One thing I've always wondered, though, is a large carrier, or
battleship. if they drop anchor and it gets snagged what do they do?,
of course that much weight will probably crash though abotu anything it
hits, and they probably have enough winch power to pull it though about
anything it snags , but I've always wondered what would happen if they
couldn't get it loose?

Cut the chain???

It's a wonder the Marguis still floated with all that chain.

LOL!

Well, it was just the anchor and about 20 ft. of some old nylon rope.
No chain...

I guess I could tie it to the bumper of my ancient and ghastly old wood
hauler pickup truck, and throw it out in case the brakes fail.....
