problem with key turning to start engine

We just purchased a 1994 Kingfisher with Mercury 125 hp motor. Ran
great the first day---out in the bay, no problems. 2nd day--added gas
and oil, tried to start it---the key turned but no sound---tried
several times--battery checked out fine. Later, tried to start again
and key would not even turn. There was never a clicking noise on the
first tries and now, key doesn't move! Could I need a new starter
switch?

could run a line from the battery directly to the starter...that'll
tell you if the switch is bad.

You need a new switch.
